Profesor Hung-Wen Lai

Dr. Hung-Wen Lai is currently the director of endoscopic and oncoplastic breast surgery center at Changhua Christian Hospital, and is also the associate professor of Surgery in Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan. After fellowship training with endoscopic breast surgery in Japan and oncoplastic reconstructive breast surgery training in Italy, Dr. Lai is a pioneer and expert in endoscopic and oncoplastic breast surgery in Taiwan and Asia.

The research fields of Dr. Lai included clinic and basic research of breast cancer. He had published more than 85 SCI papers. Nowadays, his study focused on endoscopic breast surgery, robotic mastectomy, oncoplastic breast surgery, breast reconstruction, and breast MRI related research. Dr. Lai is the pioneer of robotic breast surgery in Asia. He expanded the applications of da Vinci surgery platforms in diverse breast surgery fields, including nipple sparing mastectomy, breast conserving surgery, breast reconstruction with implant or autologous flap with latissimus dorfi. He is also the pioneer of application cryoablation in the management of breast cancer in Taiwan. Recently, he focus on a new surgical innovation of single port 3 dimensional (3D) videoscope endoscopic assisted breast surgery.
